Our gold-plated chains are made for beautiful, affordable everyday jewelry, but gold plating isn't the same thing as solid gold. A thin layer of gold is applied over a metal base, and over time that surface can naturally change with wear.

Some of our chains use 304 stainless steel cores for strength and durability, while others use a copper core. Copper allows us to create the intricate sculpted, stamped, faceted, and textured details that make some of our chains so special. The chain style determines which base metal is best suited to the design.

Our gold-plated pieces receive a factory-applied finish designed to help protect the surface. However, no gold-plated jewelry is permanently waterproof or immune to changes in color.
